Helen Osborne

I have lived in Windermere all my life and I am happy to be able to raise my children here too.  Being part of such a wonderful community makes me proud of being a ‘Windermerian’.

When I was volunteering as a Scout leader, with Beavers, I realise how much I loved working with children and it pushed me to re-train and go back to college in 2016.  Having completed my training at Lancaster and Morecambe College in 2018, I was lucky enough to secure a Senior Teaching Assistant position at St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Windermere in September 2020.

Prior to join St Cuthbert’s in 2020 I had the pleasure in working, for a short period, at a specialist school who cater for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.  And before this I worked in the insurance industry for 13 years so I feel I have a wide variety of knowledge to offer.

My elders son attends The Lakes School and my youngest is due to start in the coming September.  I am very thankful to the teaching staff for providing such a good learning environment that has allowed my son to find his strengths, to stay focused and to achieve wonderful things so far.

I am looking forward to being part of the team who thrive to ensure The Lakes School succeed.

Nigel Coppin

My family and I relocated to Windermere in June 2021 from Hampshire and both my children attend the Lakes School.  I have previous experience as both a parent and foundation governor at my children’s former primary school in Wiltshire. During my time as governor, I acted as the chair of Finance and Resourcing Committees in addition to being the Vice Chair of the full governing body.   I completed nearly 20 years service as an Officer in the Royal Navy and on retiring from the Service, I moved to the Ministry of Defence as a Senior Project Manager/Business Change Manager and more recently have moved to a role in the NHS as a major projects manager.   I hope to bring a wide range of varying skills and experiences from my previous careers to the Governing Body and hope to be an active and productive member.

Having joined the governing body in Jan 23, I look forward to supporting the school and investing my time in any way that I can to ensure that it continues to be a thriving and successful school for my children, pupils, staff, and the community as a whole.
