FAIRTRADE

The Lakes School Fairtrade Group

Welcome to our webpage!

Within our school we have a very active group of students and staff involved with getting the Fairtrade School Award for The Lakes School. The group meets fortnightly to discuss ideas for raising awareness of Fairtrade, ideas for events, what the next steps are in our award application, how the use of Fairtrade can be increased within school and how Fairtrade can be included in the curriculum.

We take pride in our display board in the maths area which is used to raise awareness of Fairtrade and to promote our ideas and events. Minutes of our meeting are also displayed on our notice board.

The group is open to all and new members are always welcome.

Below you will find details on the aims of the group, our Fairtrade recipes, news on what we’ve been doing and how to get in touch.

Our Fairtrade group aims…

  • To achieve the Fairtrade School status.
  • Getting this will require us to organise events, and have Fairtrade products throughout the school.
  • Whilst getting this status, our group aims to raise awareness of Fairtrade products and the importance of them to producers worldwide.
  • We also aim to have a policy making sure Fairtrade products are used throughout the school.
